BMW i8 unveil during Auto Expo 2014

Sachin Tendulkar unveiled four cars from the BMW stable at the Auto Expo . Sachin  is also the brand ambassador for BMW.

The four cars unveiled by the luxury automaker at the Expo are BMW i8, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, the all-new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo and the BMW X5.

The BMW i8, which was first seen in Hollywood flick Mission Impossible 4, will come as a completely built-up (CBU) unit to India by the end of 2014

BMW has announced that the i8 will be the world's first production car to get Laser headlights in fall 2014.
Compared to the standard LED headlights of the i8, the laser headlamps will be about 30 percent more energy efficient while illuminating the road up ahead a lot better than LED-based headlights. BMW says the illumination range is doubled compared to a LED high beam, resulting in a range of up to 600 meters. Drivers won't have to worry about dazzling incoming traffic since the laser diodes will work together with a camera-guided high-beam assistant.

Auto Expo 2014: Datsun compact SUV Redi-GO

Datsun has unveiled two new special models, Redi GO crossover Concept and GO+ compact MPV at Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi.
Datsun compact SUV Redi-GO

Datsun, The Nissan's budget brand, here they wants to get in the emerging Indian market . It has already showcased the Go hatchback and the Go+ MINI MPV to cater to this segment. But, it believes a gap still remains to be plugged. And, no, it's not the compact sedan space Datsun is looking at. Yes, the compact sedan segment has been growing, and it does hold a lot of potential - why else would we have seen multiple unveils for this category this Expo, namely the Tata Zest, Ford Figo Concept and the Hyundai Xcent?

But, the success of this segment depends heavily on the excise duty benefit for small cars continuing for years to come. Now, a compact SUV (read under 4-metres) too relies on this excise duty holiday, but because it is an SUV - and SUVs as we all know is and will remain in great demand for years to come - literally halves the risk.

DSK Hyosung Launched the Aquila 250 cruiser at the 2014 Auto Expo

DSK Hyosung launched its first motorcycle in 2014 as it pulled the wraps of the Aquila 250, at the 12th edition of the show. But unlike the GV nomenclature it has for the cruiser bike in the international market it has been christened Aquila for the Indian two-wheeler market. The new offering will be powered by a 250cc, oil-cooled, V-twin, 8-valve powerplant. The engine produces 26.5PS @ 9,500rpm and 21Nm @ 7,000rpm. The Aquila 250 will be the second quarter-litre offering from the stables of Hyosung after the GT250R.

Speaking at the launch, Shirish Kulkarni Chairman, DSK Hyosung said, “This is the first time we are participating at this mega auto event; we wanted to mark our entry with oodles of luxury, style and performance and decided that the best way to do it was to introduce The Real Cruiser - The Aquila 250. This luxury cruiser is the first-of-its kind in the Indian market and will offer unparallel ride quality, performance, cruiser comfort and stability for speed connoisseurs. Apart from Aquila 250, we are also showcasing three of our future bikes – The RT 125 D, GD 250N and Comet 250 (250 cc) that will give a glimpse into the brand’s vision in terms of superior design, engineering and technological advancement.

The new cruiser offering will be brought in to our two-wheeler market via CKD. The Korean bikemaker has been priced at Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which though isn’t cheap by any means. But still it is the cheapest V-twin cruiser offering in our country and will appeal to bikers who are looking at big cruiser with adequate performance and don’t want to shell out a fortune to own one. Apart from launching the Aquila 250, Hyosung also showcased the GD250N, which is a 250cc, parallel-twin street bike and is speculated to head our shores by mid-2014. Hyosung also had showcased the RT 125 D, to gauge customer response. It is now learnt that DSK is planning to bring in the off-road bike by end of the year but with a 250cc powerplant unlike the 125cc offering displayed.
